Japandi style incorporates several key elements to create its unique aesthetic.
At its core is minimalism, embracing simplicity and a clutter-free sense of space with open areas and clean-lined furniture, promoting a functional home.
This design celebrates natural materials, featuring distinctive raw textures like natural stones and innate wooden surfaces, complemented by layers of texture and natural fabrics.
A neutral color scheme dominates, with warm muted tones like beige, off-white, gray, and soft earthly colors such as brown, while darker accents add contrast and timelessness.
Apart from these core elements, natural light plays a crucial role, filling the space and bringing the outdoors inside, enhancing the overall tranquility and harmony of Japandi interiors.
Starting with the living room, our designer skillfully crafted a bright and airy space. The initial layout of this living room had an awkward off-center position for the TV feature wall. To rectify it, our designer took a strategic approach by hacking off the original junior bedroom wall and constructing a TV-sized ‘island wall’ in the center.
Additionally, we integrated two wooden slat doors to ensure privacy between the living area and bedroom. This thoughtful redesign achieved perfect alignment, establishing a central focal point, and notably improved both the functionality and aesthetics of the home.
Japanese style decor typically uses neutral colors such as white, beige, grey, and brown. These hues are ideal for creating a simple and cozy environment as well as complementing natural materials.
This stucco textured wall is a fitting choice for Japandi style as it infuses the space with an authentic organic appeal, reminiscent of traditional Japanese interiors.
It not only complements the warm wood furnishings but it also introduces natural warmth and creates a cozy ambiance.
The incorporation of natural waves and soft fabrics further enhances the sense of tranquility, culminating in a harmonious haven that fully embraces the essence of Japandi style.
Natural elements are essential too! Placing some fresh plants in the room can provide oxygen and add vitality and energy to the room. In particular, bonsai and bamboo are very popular plants in Japanese-style decoration.
